Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data Date This Cat (“Would You Date This Cat?”) processes in the iPhone app and on datethiscat.com, and why. The short version: we know as little about you as we can. No name, no email, no exact location, no ads, no tracking, and nobody can contact you through the app.

1. Who is responsible

Loaded AG, Klostergutstrasse 4, 8252 Schlatt TG, Switzerland, is responsible for this processing. Questions and requests: hello@loaded.ch.

2. The app

Signing in. You sign in with Apple. Apple gives us a random identifier for your account. We don’t ask Apple for your name or email address. We use the identifier to keep your account and to make sure each person votes once per cat.

Your profile. Your app language, your time zone (so your nine daily Super Meows reset at your midnight), the city you choose, and when you accepted the house rules, the owner terms and the AI step. If you tap “Use my location (roughly)”, your iPhone finds the nearest city itself; your location never leaves the phone, only the city does.

Votes. Which cats you voted on, yes, no or Super Meow, the reason you tapped, and when. Owners only ever see totals, never who voted. We also use votes to keep rankings fair (for example, limits on how fast votes can come in).

Your cats. If you add a cat: its name, age, breed, city, photos, the profile texts and the stickers. A posted cat is visible to everyone who uses the app, with its city. Before a photo leaves your phone, the app removes its metadata (such as GPS position and camera details); our server re-encodes it again before it is shown to anyone. Please post only cats, no people.

Shelters. If you apply as a shelter or rescue: the organisation’s name, city, website and adoption page, and a contact (email or phone) so we can check it’s real. The contact is only for that check and is never shown in the app. Verified shelters’ cats show the shelter’s name and a link to its adoption page.

Invites. If you invite friends or join through someone’s invite: your invite code, which invite your account used, and the extra Super Meows and stickers it earned. Neither side learns the other’s name; the app only shows counts (“2 friends joined through you”).

Reports and hidden owners. If you report a cat: which cat, the reason and when, so we can review it. If you hide an owner’s cats, we store that you hid them (you never learn who the owner is, and they never learn that you hid them).

Love report. If you allow notifications, we store your iPhone’s push token, so we can send the evening love report about your cats. You can switch the report off in Settings or in iPhone Settings. The token is removed when you sign out or delete your account.

Share links. When you share your cat, the card carries a link like datethiscat.com/c/… . That page is public for as long as the cat is live: it shows the cat’s name, photo, city and verdict, and nothing about you.

Deleting your account. To be able to end your Sign in with Apple when you delete your account, we keep a token from Apple, stored encrypted.

Technical logs. Our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address, time and request) for security and troubleshooting.

3. The website

datethiscat.com is hosted by Vercel. When you visit it, Vercel processes your IP address and request data in server logs to deliver the page and keep it secure. The website sets no cookies and uses no analytics. It loads nothing from other companies’ servers, except the cat photo on a shared cat’s page (datethiscat.com/c/…), which comes from our storage at Supabase.

Before your first cat photo is used, the app asks for your consent. With it, your cat’s photos, its name, age and the three words you picked are sent to DeepSeek (Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence Co., Ltd., China). DeepSeek checks that a photo shows a cat and nothing that breaks the house rules, writes the first draft of the profile, and translates your edits into the app’s other language. We never send your account identifier, your name or your location.

China is not recognised by Switzerland or the EU as having an adequate level of data protection. We transfer this data on the basis of your explicit consent. DeepSeek processes data under its own policy and may use it to improve its models. If you don’t want this, don’t add a cat; you can still vote on other people’s cats.

For each AI request we record what was requested, when, the result and its cost, to enforce daily limits and to keep costs in check. These records are deleted with your account.

5. Who else processes data

  • Supabase (Supabase Inc., USA) hosts our database, file storage and server functions. The data is stored in Zurich, Switzerland.
  • Apple provides Sign in with Apple and the App Store.
  • DeepSeek for the AI step (section 4), only with your consent.
  • Vercel (Vercel Inc., USA) hosts the website.

We don’t sell personal data, we don’t show ads, and we don’t share data for advertising.

6. How long we keep data

As long as you have an account. In the app, Settings → “Delete account” deletes your account and everything in it right away: your cats with their photos and texts, your votes, your reports, your AI records and your sign-in. Backups are overwritten within 7 days. Technical logs are deleted after a short time.

7. Your rights

You can ask us what data we have about you, have it corrected or deleted, get a copy of it, object to its processing, and withdraw your consent to the AI step at any time (for the future). Write to hello@loaded.ch. You can also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, if you live in the EU, to your local data protection authority.

8. Age

The app is for people aged 13 and over.

9. Changes

If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. Important changes are announced in the app.
